Did you know that you can make fake 3D pixel art in Blender by just like turning anti-aliasing off?? And pixelizing post-effects? Sounds super simple but it took me forever to figure it out.

Good pixel art takes as much effort and time as good CGI video games
Look at shovel knight, the amount of detail on each character needs to be consistent in each frame for every action, running, jumping, attacking, being hit, idle animations, animations for doing hidden actions that might happen only once.
And then you multiply that by the 50 or so enemies, variants, environmental hazards, bosses, bosses that have multiple phases, and the level design
Then there’s as much effort in a pixel art Game that shows as much detail and fluid motion as possible as there is a top of the line triple AAA CGI games, even better in some cases.

Prisma babies with some older plant assets
I got up super early to make this Beta baby Meowth pixel art! May he bring you peace and good fortune!
gif of chonko the dragon by @draconym <3
this is my first attempt at pixel art and the gif is a little rough but i like how he turned out
[Image ID: The first image is a gif of a chubby red dragon. The dragon has a froglike face, with golden eyes and twisted teal horns. It has teal scales, a curly tail, and translucent insect wings.
Below are two more images, one of each frame of the gif. the first pictures the same dragon with its eyes open and a neutral expression. In the second, the dragon has tilted its head back, and appears to be smiling, with a long forked tongue sticking out.]
BEAUTIFUL
I have updated my commission info!
I’ll pretty much draw any kind of creature, anthro, or human! Robots and such that aren’t too complex are fine, too. (As you can probably tell, I especially love drawing dinosaurs!)
I do reserve the right to refuse a commission if I feel it may give me too much trouble. This is pretty unlikely, but if you’re not sure, ask me first!
Pixel art prices depend on size and complexity.
If you’re interested in anything not listed here, just ask!
Backgrounds are by default either transparent or one solid colour. I may add simple background elements at my discretion or at your request.
Please email cinna@hotmail.ca or send me an IM through tumblr if you’re interested in a commission!
Commissions would really help me out right now, this month in particular. Reblogs would be very appreciated! Thank you!

Retro aesthetics aside, I think low-res pixel art is legitimately, functionally better suited for precision platformers and such than more realistic alternatives because the simple, sharp-edged presentation more accurately reflects what you’re actually looking at. It’s super frustrating when you’re playing a game with realistic graphics and naturalistic animations and you try something that looks like it logically ought to work, but ends up whiffing or hitting an invisible wall because all that visual glitz doesn’t reflect the underlying world model.
(To say nothing of the various Dark Souls like combat sims where you can swing your weapon and have it pass straight through the boss like they’re not even there because it turns out they’re only vulnerable to being attacked during specific parts of specific animations, but the hyper-detailed graphics make it impossible for the visuals to clearly indicate which parts those are. Like, just stick a big glowing crystal in their chest that flashes red when you’re supposed to whack it – we had that figured out all the way back in 1987!)
-Accusatory glare at Warframe- although most of Warframe’s bosses do use pretty clear “Weak Spot Active” cues, such as ‘fall to knees’ or ‘opens glowing mouth’, some of them are actual environmental puzzles
My favorite story to come out of the internet lately: For those of you who don’t know, for April Fool’s Day, Reddit launched this massive collaborative art project where you can place one pixel every five minutes on this massive canvas, so in order to do anything meaningful you have to work together collectively to make pixel art.
/r/YumeNikki decided to put the sprite of Madotsuki onto the canvas. Because of a lack of space, they decided to put it on the yellow stripe of the Swedish flag.
/r/Sweden, despite having no idea who Madotsuki is, absolutely fell in love with her, and have taken it upon themselves to fiercely defend her from any vandals. They even drew Pippi Longstocking next to her holding her hand. They’ve also made several visits to Yume Nikki’s sub and left friendly posts.

So that’s how a small community for a relatively unknown Japanese video game became best friends with the entire country of Sweden.
It's my birthday
Thanks everyone for the birthday cheer! You’re all super sweet >v< <3
